Cookie Policy

What cookies and similar technologies The Hosting Mill uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.

01

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let a site remember information between pages or visits. Similar technologies include local storage and tracking pixels; in this policy “cookies” covers all of them.

02

Cookies we use

Cookie typePurposeDuration
Strictly necessarySecurity, load balancing, remembering your preferencesSession to 12 months
AnalyticsCounting visits and understanding which pages are usefulUp to 26 months
Affiliate trackingRecording that a visitor arrived at a host from our linkSet by the host, usually 30–90 days
Embedded contentMaps and other embedded services on certain pagesSet by the provider

03

Strictly necessary cookies

These keep the site secure and working — for example, our firewall and caching system may set cookies to block abusive traffic and serve pages quickly. They cannot be switched off in our systems, but you can block them in your browser, which may stop parts of the site from working.

04

Analytics cookies

When we use analytics, it is to see how many people read each page, which guides are most helpful and where readers leave the site. Analytics is configured to anonymise IP addresses where possible, and we do not use analytics data to identify individual visitors.

05

Affiliate cookies

When you click an affiliate link to a hosting provider, that provider may set a cookie in your browser to record that you arrived from The Hosting Mill. These cookies are set by the provider, on its own website, under its own policy. They do not give us access to your account or payment information.

06

Embedded content

Some pages include embedded content such as maps. The provider of that content may set its own cookies when the embed loads. Please check that provider’s cookie policy for details.

07

Managing your choices

You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings; most browsers explain how in their help pages, and many let you block third-party cookies only. Blocking all cookies may affect how some pages work. If we add a consent tool for optional cookies, its settings link will appear in the site footer.

08

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we add or remove tools that use cookies. The effective date at the top shows the latest version.
